Assistant / Quantity Surveyor – MEP & Fit-Out Contractor (Birmingham, UK)

Are you looking to take the next step in your Quantity Surveying career with a respected and expanding contractor? Our client, a well-established Mechanical, Electrical & Fit-Out Contractor, is seeking an Assistant / Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting a range of high-quality MEP and fit-out projects across the Midlands region.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will assist in the commercial and contractual management of projects from tender stage through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, and high-end fit-out schemes, while developing under the guidance of experienced senior QSs and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cost estimation, tender preparation, and valuations.
- Support the procurement of subcontractors and materials.
- Contribute to the measurement and valuation of works on site.
- Help manage budgets, change control, and variations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and monthly reports.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years’ experience, ideally with a main or M&E contractor.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and commercial processes.
- Strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
- Ambitious, proactive, and keen to progress within a growing company.
