Assistant Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Transportation

Location: Meriden, CT


We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support heavy civil and transportation projects in the Meriden area. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in structural construction, steel fabrication, and DOT-managed projects who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.


What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with managing structural and steel scopes from design coordination through shop drawings, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
  • Support scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and change management for project scopes.
  • Coordinate with field teams, fabricators, erectors, and inspectors to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Review shop drawings, welding procedures, and inspection documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and project requirements.


What You Bring:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in heavy civil, structural, or transportation construction.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication processes and structural systems.
  • CDOT experience required—knowledge of Connecticut Department of Transportation processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and inspectors.
