The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a critical role in supporting the successful planning, execution, and completion of construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, the APM assists with project coordination, documentation, scheduling, budgeting, and overall project performance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

 

  • Assist Project Managers with the development and execution of project plans, schedules, budgets, and overall project strategies.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project activities align with established timelines, scopes, and objectives.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, schedules, reports, and project correspondence.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and communicate recommendations to support timely resolution and successful project completion.
  • Assist with tracking project costs, commitments, change orders, and expenditures to support budget management and financial accountability.
  • Facilitate communication between project stakeholders by providing updates, coordinating meetings, and addressing project-related questions or concerns.
  • Review project documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to ensure deliverables meet contract requirements and quality expectations.
  • Perform material takeoffs, assist with procurement activities, coordinate material deliveries, and develop an understanding of various construction trades and divisions.
  • Support project scheduling efforts by tracking milestones, subcontractor activities, and critical path items.
  • Conduct routine jobsite visits to monitor progress, identify field challenges, support project coordination, and promote compliance with safety requirements.
  • Participate in daily risk assessments and assist in developing mitigation strategies to minimize project impacts.
  • Utilize construction management software and technology platforms to maintain accurate project records and improve project communication.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support project objectives and company goals.

 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction project management, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline ; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, terminology, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Microsoft Project, Adobe Acrobat, and construction project management software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents .
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify issues and assist in developing solutions.
