Assistant Project Manager – Industrial Electrical Construction
Full-Time | Onsite | Chester, VA | Starting at $65,000+ (Based on Experience)
Byers Industrial Services is seeking an Assistant Project Manager with an industrial electrical or industrial construction background to support a large-scale industrial construction project in Chester, VA.
This is a fully onsite position based at an active industrial construction project. Candidates must be comfortable working directly in the field alongside project teams, subcontractors, and operations personnel on a daily basis.
This role is ideal for someone who has progressed from the field — such as an Electrician, Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Engineer — and is looking to continue growing within project management and industrial construction operations.

Position Overview
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to help drive industrial electrical construction activities from planning through completion.
You will play a critical role in:
- Coordinating daily construction activities
- Supporting project scheduling and execution
- Managing RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Tracking progress, manpower, and materials
- Maintaining safety, quality, and production standards
This is a hands-on onsite role that combines both field support and project coordination within an active industrial construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily onsite industrial electrical construction activities
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and field teams to maintain project schedules and workflow
- Read and interpret:
- Electrical blueprints
- One-lines
- Schematics
- Construction drawings and specifications
- Support project scheduling using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software
- Assist with:
- RFIs
- Submittals
- Change orders
- Purchase orders
- Daily reports and project documentation
- Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office to manage project workflows and reporting
- Help monitor project budgets, labor tracking, and material procurement
- Conduct jobsite walks to ensure work is progressing safely and according to project specifications
- Support quality control and verify installations meet NEC and project requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Background in:
- Industrial Electrical Construction
- Industrial Construction
- Manufacturing or heavy commercial projects
- Hands-on field experience supporting or supervising construction projects
- Strong understanding of:
- NEC ( Electrical Code)
- Electrical systems and installation methods
- Industrial construction workflows
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Blueprints
- Schematics
- Control drawings
- Construction documents
- Experience with:
- Procore
- Primavera P6
- Bluebeam
- Construction documentation workflows
- Familiarity with estimating or budgeting software such as HeavyBid is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced industrial construction environments
