Assistant Project Manager - Sarasota, FL
A marine and heavy civil construction assistant project manager is responsible for assisting in overseeing and managing construction projects involving marine structures such as ports, harbors, breakwaters, and bridges, as well as heavy civil projects like shoreline revetment and highways. The job description may vary depending on the specific requirements of the company or project, but generally, the key responsibilities and qualifications of a marine and heavy civil construction project manager may include:
Basic Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the construction project from start to finish, ensuring that it is completed within the scheduled time frame and budget.
- Create and manage the project budget, including tracking expenses, reviewing contracts, and managing change orders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards to maintain a safe working environment for the crew.
- Manage and supervise the project team, including contractors, engineers, architects, and other professionals, to ensure that they work effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure that project plans and specifications are followed, and oversee quality control and assurance programs to ensure that the project is completed to the required standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines, ensuring that all activities are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders, including the project owner, contractors, and other relevant parties.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the project, and develop contingency plans to address unforeseen circumstances.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and other relevant documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in marine and heavy civil construction project management.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with the project.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, and knowledge of relevant computer applications and technology.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
- Certification in project management, such as Project Management Professional (PMP), is a plus.
- PM software such as HCSS Heavyjob and P6.
