Assistant Project Manager – EPC (Electric Utility Projects)
Hybrid once direct, on-site while on contract| Based near Detroit, MI (Southfield)
6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Range: $40–$50/hr (based on experience)
Travel: 25–50% (Midwest region)
We’re seeking an Assistant Project Manager with a strong foundation in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project coordination, specifically within the electric utility sector. What You'll Do
- Support EPC projects for overhead transmission and substation infrastructure
- Manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate between engineering, construction, procurement, and project controls
- Assist with budget tracking, scope management, RFP development, and vendor/subcontractor coordination
- Oversee design reviews and ensure constructability throughout each phase
- Travel to project sites across the Midwest as needed (25–50%)
You Bring
- 3+ years of relevant construction project experience (utility industry )
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with scheduling, cost tracking, and document control software
- Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP)
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regionally
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in electrical substation or utility transmission projects
- Background in field construction oversight or EPC coordination
- Experience with project budgeting and outage planning is a plus
