Assistant Electrical Project Engineer – Water Industry\n\nJob Overview:\nWe are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Electrical Project Engineer to support the delivery of electrical works within our water sector projects. This role is ideal for someone from a hands-on electrical installation background who is looking to transition into project engineering. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer and gain experience in the planning, coordination, and delivery of electrical elements of clean and/or wastewater treatment schemes.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * \n\n Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical installation works on water and wastewater projects.\n\n * \n\n Support the Senior Project Engineer in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and quality delivery.\n\n * \n\n Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and scope documents.\n\n * \n\n Help monitor site progress, ensuring all works comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.\n\n * \n\n Attend site meetings, record actions, and follow up on project deliverables.\n\n * \n\n Provide input into commissioning and handover documentation.\n\n * \n\n Assist in the preparation of RAMS and permit-to-work documentation.\n\n * \n\n Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with project schedules and budgets.\n\nCandidate Requirements:\n\n * \n\n NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.\n\n * \n\n Proven experience working on electrical installations – ideally within the water industry or a similarly regulated environment.\n\n * \n\n Understanding of electrical systems including LV distribution, control panels, motors, instrumentation, and cabling.\n\n * \n\n Willingness to learn and develop into a project engineering role.\n\n * \n\n Strong communication and organisational skills.\n\n * \n\n ECS/CSCS card and relevant site qualifications desirable (e.g., SSSTS, EUSR Water Hygiene).\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence.\n\nIf you're looking to join a company delivering vital infrastructure to the water industry and take the next step in your engineering career, apply online with your CV!\n\nGRS (Gearing Recruitment Solutions) operates across the following sectors, frameworks and industries:- water treatment, clean water, wastewater, waste water, wwtw, wtw, thames water, anglian water, cambridge water, essex water, ses water, southern water, southeast water, amp 6, amp 7, scottish water, sutton and east surrey water, wessex water, south west water, severn trent water, welsh water, united utilities, yorkshire water, STW, sludge, treatment works, chemical dosing, sewage, pumping station, booster station, paper mill, brewery, food processing, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, process engineering, UKPN, power networks, substations, energy, transmission and distribution
