Assistant Production Supervisor & Mechanic Apprentice Location: Oxnard, CA

Compensation: $24 - $27/hour based on experience

As we continue to grow, were seeking a hands-on Assistant Production Supervisor with mechanical aptitude to join our manufacturing team in Oxnard, CA.

This is role requires a person who has leadership and organizational skills and also the aptitude and desire to train on industrial maintenance of our machinery. You would work closely with both our Production Supervisor and our highly experienced Lead Mechanic. The job is ideal for someone who enjoys both mechanical problem-solving and team management in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The apprenticeship under our Lead Mechanic will open up career opportunities with higher compensation.

Position Summary
The Assistant Production Supervisor will be 2nd in command of the day-to-day production operations under SQF regulations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality, while also helping to maintain and repair all production machinery and facility equipment. This role helps maintain a smooth and efficient workflow with minimal downtime, and consistent product quality through effective leadership and mechanical expertise. The opportunity to become a mechanic for production machinery can lead to a higher paying position in time. Our production works 10 hour shifts 4 days a week from 5AM- 3:30PM with Friday Sunday off.

Key Responsibilities
Production Supervision

Oversee daily production line operations to meet schedule targets and maintain product quality.
Assign, train, and supervise production team members based on skills and position qualifications.
Monitor equipment setup and operation for both the tea bag machines and coffee bag filling machines, including calibration, cleaning, and performance checks.
Enforce and model safety, GMP, and food safety standards.
Maintain logs for production counts, cleaning, and hygiene activities.
Identify and resolve production issues, escalating major concerns to the Production Supervisor as needed.

Industrial Maintenance

Learn to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all manufacturing and facility equipment.
Learn to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems.
Help execute facility maintenance projects.
Follow OSHA and food safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Support continuous improvement and root cause analysis to minimize equipment downtime.

Qualifications

Dual proficiency in English and Spanish required
High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree or technical certification .
35 years of combined experience in production supervision (food manufacturing environment ).
Forklift certified or willing to be certified.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
Familiarity with GMPs, OSHA standards, and food safety procedures.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for the 10 hour shift.
Frequent lifting and moving of up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
Ability to bend, kneel, twist, climb, and reach in various directions.
Tolerance for a noisy environment
