Assistant Port Engineer & Analyst Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Assistant Port Engineer & Assistant Analyst to join our team. This remote position combines the responsibilities of assisting with port engineering activities and NSE management, requiring a strong background in engineering and logistics. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining equipment, and managing inventory, while working closely with the Port Engineer to oversee the maintenance and repair of vessels.

Assistant Port Engineer & Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Assist with port engineering activities and NSE management
  • Perform lifecycle management for assigned class of ships using ABS Nautical Systems Enterprise
  • Ensure all ships in the class remain consistent with regards to preventive maintenance plan, corrective maintenance & repair tracking, equipment hierarchy, shipboard alterations, and spare parts management
  • Ensure all required data is entered into the ABS Nautical Systems management system in accordance with MARAD Business Protocol document and ship manager contract requirements
  • Export reports from the ABS Nautical Systems Enterprise management software as required to meet contractual deliverables and to satisfy all data-calls from the customer
  • Assist the Port Engineer in overseeing the maintenance and repair of vessels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to schedule and prioritize repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks
  • Participate in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for vessels, machinery, and equipment
  • Assist in managing the budget for vessel maintenance, repairs, and spare parts procurement
  • Assume supervisory responsibility for assigned ship group during work week when lead port engineer is on leave or unavailable

Assistant Port Engineer & Analyst Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Naval/Marine Architecture, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience serving aboard commercial ocean-going ships of not less than 4,000 HP
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with computerized maintenance tracking systems
  • DOD-granted "SECRET" security clearance
  • High proficiency and accuracy with data
  • ABS NS-E, NS-5 Software database entry experience is strongly desired
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work within critical time constraints
  • Ability to work independently and under limited supervision
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technical manuals and drawings, shipboard arrangement, and organization
  • Ability to work remotely and independently
