Cooper Plumbing and Mechanical LLC is looking to hire an Assistant Plumbing and Mechanical Project Manager for our heavy commercial, industrial and transportation projects. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in overseeing and managing all aspects of plumbing, heating, process pipe and other mechanical installations within our construction projects. This role requires some understanding of both plumbing and mechanical systems, project management principles, and relevant industry regulations and codes.

Key responsibilities

  • Project Documentation and Organization: Assisting with managing and organizing project logs, folders, and documentation, ensuring accurate tracking and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Procurement and Submittals: Aiding in the procurement process by preparing and managing submittals, requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and material orders, collaborating with field supervisors for smooth project operations.
  • Plan and Specification Review: Reviewing project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify potential issues, ensure compliance, and track progress against project requirements.
  • Team Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicating among project team members, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate information flow and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Project Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Supporting the tracking of project progress, schedules, and budgets, and assisting in the preparation and submission of daily production reports and meeting minutes.
  • Quality Control and Safety: Supporting the implementation of quality control measures and adhering to company and regulatory safety procedures to ensure projects meet the required standards and safety guidelines.
  • Financial Management Support: Assisting with managing financial aspects of projects, including preparing/reviewing estimates, cost reports, bids, change order proposals, and ensuring compliance with financial goals.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations: Maintaining communication with clients, addressing their concerns, and providing updates on project progress.

Skills and qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering (Mechanical ), or a related field is often , though not always required. Experience in the plumbing and/or mechanical sector is also , though not always required.
  • Project Management Knowledge: Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, tools, and techniques, along with familiarity with construction methods and materials,
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (such as Primavera P-6, Procore, or Microsoft Project), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and potentially experience with CAD software.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain detailed records.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and collaborate with teams to overcome project challenges.
  • Leadership Qualities: The ability to lead and motivate teams, foster a positive work environment, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of safety regulations, such as OSHA, and adherence to company safety protocols.
