The Mechanical Engineering Department at Montana Technological University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering with an ability to teach a broad selection of Mechanical Engineering classes. The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Given the broad nature of Mechanical Engineering, candidates will be expected to convey how their research specialty will further their ability to provide high-quality instruction and impactful research for school and society. The candidate will be expected to teach service courses as needed and offer a regular set of classes within the department. Candidates must demonstrate excellent English written and oral communication skills and have a strong commitment to teaching, research, and mentoring. Promotion and tenure will require a Professional Engineering license in the United States.

Duties:

Job responsibilities include teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses within the Mechanical Engineering Department. Requirements include teaching service courses and courses specific to Mechanical Engineering. The person in this position must initiate and sustain a research program, including leadership of undergraduate and graduate students, and is expected to provide service to the department, campus, community, and profession.

Required Qualifications:
 

  • A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline by position start date.


Qualifications:

  • Industrial experience;
  • Teaching experience;
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills;
  • Capability to obtain a PE license within four years of appointment.
