Assistant Fire Engineer\nLocation: Sheffield (Hybrid)\n Salary: £29,000 - £42,000\n Job Type: Full-time\n\nThe Opportunity\nAn established fire engineering consultancy is looking to recruit an Assistant Fire Engineer to support the delivery of fire engineering projects across residential, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and mixed-use developments.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional looking to develop their technical skills alongside experienced fire engineers, with structured training and clear progression opportunities.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAssist with the preparation of fire strategies and planning fire statements\nReview architectural drawings and identify fire safety considerations\nSupport technical reviews of means of escape, compartmentation, fire doors and passive fire protection\nContribute to technical reports, design reviews and feasibility studies\nAttend site visits with senior engineers and record findings\nAssist with fire risk assessments, compartmentation surveys and fire door inspections\nResearch and apply relevant fire safety guidance, including Approved Document B and British Standards\n\nRequirements\nEssential\n\nDegree (or working towards) in Fire Engineering, Building Services, Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline\nStrong interest in fire engineering and the built environment\nAbility to interpret technical drawings\nExcellent written communication and organisational skills\nProficient in Microsoft Office\n\nDesirable\n\nExperience within fire safety, consultancy, building control or construction\nKnowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards\nExperience with AutoCAD, Revit or Bluebeam\nFull UK driving licence\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\nStructured training and mentoring from experienced fire engineers\nExposure to a wide range of projects across multiple sectors\nSupport towards professional development and accreditation\nHybrid working with a mix of office, home and site-based work\nLong-term career progression within a growing consultancy\n\nPlease contact:\nAlex Bartley\nRGB Network\nEmail: abartley @ rgb .co .uk
