Assistant Engineering Manager in Stoke-on-Trent

Our client is a fantastic business based in the Stoke-on-Trent area, they do a lot for the community in their local area and are very people-focused. They are seeking a Vehicle Workshop Controller to join their team, supporting the Manager, overseeing repairs and maintenance of the company’s fleet.  This role will offer development within the business for a long-standing career and has progression opportunities. Job Description for the Vehicle Workshop Controller role:



Managing the maintenance schedule for the fleet of vehicles, plus plant equipment and machinery, ensuring that the fleet complies with all regulations and standards

Support the day-to-day operations, including supervising and mentoring a small team of operatives, to achieve the highest standard of output and quality

To build and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers

Liaise with operational departments to arrange and schedule R&M service dates to manage vehicle availability and downtime

Maintain records of inspections, licences, and certifications

Undertake driver daily checks and vehicle inspection audits

Provide maintenance and technical support of minor vehicle repairs and machinery, ensuring duties are carried out safely and effectively

Assist in job control using our fleet management software

Ordering of equipment and resources For the Vehicle Workshop Controller, it would be good to see candidates with:



IRTEC Inspection Technician Licence (Level 3 NVQ, HGV Maintenance and repair)

Strong experience in vehicle mechanics and maintenance

Be able to solve technical and operational issues

Experience in maintaining plant equipment would be an advantage

Someone who can use their initiative to make informed decisions

Someone who can work under pressure

A professional approach  Hours:  Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 5:00 pm - Alt Saturdays 07:00 - 12:00

Salary:  £45,000 Per Annum
