Job Description
Invision are representing a leading engineering and construction specialist delivering complex structures, façades, Civil engineering, and structural steel solutions across the UK. We are recognised for technical excellence, collaborative delivery, and our ability to manage challenging structural packages on major infrastructure and building projects.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe Assistant Design Manager will support the Design Manager in coordinating, reviewing, and managing the delivery of Structural Steel Design Packages from pre-construction through to fabrication and installation.\n\nThe role will focus on ensuring technical compliance, programme alignment, design coordination, and effective interface management between consultants, steelwork contractors, fabricators, and internal delivery teams.\n\nThis position is ideal for a technically strong individual with structural steel experience looking to develop into a full Design Manager role.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nStructural Steel Design Coordination\n\n * \n\n Assist in managing the full lifecycle of structural steel design packages.\n\n * \n\n Review drawings, calculations, connection designs, and fabrication models.\n\n * \n\n Ensure designs comply with project specifications, Eurocodes, and relevant British Standards.\n\n * \n\n Monitor and track design deliverables against programme milestones.\n\nTechnical Review & Compliance\n\n * \n\n Support technical reviews of:\n\n * \n\n GA drawings\n\n * \n\n Connection calculations\n\n * \n\n Tekla / BIM models\n\n * \n\n Erection methodologies\n\n * \n\n Identify design risks, buildability issues, and sequencing constraints.\n\nProgramme & Commercial Awareness\n\n * \n\n Support alignment of design release schedules with procurement and fabrication.\n\n * \n\n Understand impact of late information or design changes on:\n\n * \n\n Fabrication\n\n * \n\n Erection sequence\n\n * \n\n Site progress\n\n * \n\n Assist in assessing variation impacts from design development.\n\nQuality & Documentation Control\n\n * \n\n Ensure design documentation is properly managed and version controlled.\n\n * \n\n Maintain technical submittal trackers.\n\n * \n\n Support the preparation of design status reports.\n\nRequired Experience & Qualifications\n\nEssential\n\n * \n\n Degree (or equivalent) in:\n\n * \n\n Structural Engineering\n\n * \n\n Civil Engineering\n\n * \n\n Architectural Engineering\n\n * \n\n 2–5 years’ experience in:\n\n * \n\n Structural steel design\n\n * \n\n Steel fabrication\n\n * \n\n Design coordination within construction
