A long term contract opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Construction Manager to join a tier-one consultancy providing construction management services to Network Rail.\n\nBased from YORK, you will support construction assurance and governance for third-party works, ensuring the safety and integrity of Network Rail’s infrastructure.\n\nYou will cover the eastern region of the route, and in a typical week, you will likely spend one to two days in the York office, with the remainder of your time spent visiting sites across the route.\n\nThe role offers £300 per day (Inside IR35), plus business mileage at 45p per mile. The initial contract duration is six months, with a strong likelihood of extension thereafter, making this an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term role within a relatively compact geographic area.\n\nYour responsibilities:\n\nSupport construction assurance activities by monitoring site works for compliance with standards, plans, and safety requirements.\nAssist with constructability reviews, audits, and interdisciplinary design checks, including validation of design risk assessments.\nReview and support approval of Construction Phase Plans, Work Package Plans, and site-specific risk assessments.\nSupport the management of NRSWA projects and coordinate with site teams and third parties to ensure effective collaboration.\nCollate and submit documentation for review and acceptance, maintaining accurate site diaries and contributing to assurance reports.\nTrack and report discrepancies between planned and completed work, supporting the close-out of non-conformances and reporting engineering issues.\nAssist with the AMP/EIS process for asset data exchange and maintenance.\nIdentify and report quality or performance issues, contributing to lessons learned and best practice sharing.\nProvide administrative and functional support to the Asset Protection team, including input into Construction Assurance Risk Management and attendance at planning meetings.\nTo be successful in the role, you will need to:\n\nHave demonstrable experience in working on Network Rail (Civil Engineering) projects for either a Principal Contractor or the Client\nHave a good understanding of Network Rail standards and assurance principles\nBe able to interpret technical documentation\nBe a good communicator\nBe familiar with current Health and Safety legislation and proceduresPlease apply via email with a copy of your CV or call (phone number removed) and ask for Rob.\n\n“People Group is an equal opportunity employer.
