Assistant Construction Manager

Harris & Associates is actively searching for an Assistant Construction Manager to join our PMCM team in the bay area. The Assistant Construction Manager will support and assist our Project Managers and Construction Managers throughout design and construction in the management of scope, schedule, budget and quality. The Assistant Construction Manager will work under the supervision of the Construction Manager and will be located at the specific jobsite.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Supports the Construction Manager ensuring that the project is constructed according to approved plans, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Contribute to the preparation, editing, and distribution of weekly OAC meeting minutes and monthly project specific status reports
  • Assist CM in oversight of project costs and schedule  
  • Manages documentation, document control/filing, RFI’s, submittals, potential change orders, and progress payments
  • Assist in the review of contractor cost proposals.  Perform quantity take-offs, review labor units along with material and equipment costs.
  • Perform daily site inspections as-needed to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
  • Prepare daily field reports based on site observations
  • Coordinate 3rd-party special material testing inspections
  • Maintain up-to-date project records

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of relevant construction management experience
  • Ability to work independently with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Qualifications

  • Experience with structural design and construction
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations for DSA approved projects
  • CMIT, QSP, EIT, or PMP
  • OSHA 10 certification (required within 90 days of hire date)

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range offered for this position is $110K-135K. The actual salary offered will be dependent on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.
