Assistant Building Services Engineer\n\nMain Contractor\n\nLondon\n\n£40k - £55k\n\nWe’re working with an extremely highly regarded Main Contractor delivering complex refurbishment and fit-out projects across London. Known for their collaborative approach and strong client relationships, they are heavily involved in two-stage tendering, working closely with end clients from early design through to delivery.\n\nDue to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Building Services Engineer to support their pre-construction and delivery teams.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain exposure to high-quality commercial projects and develop within a business that genuinely invests in its people.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will work closely with senior engineers, commercial teams and pre-construction leads, supporting projects from tender stage through to delivery.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\n * Supporting two-stage tender processes, assisting with design development, cost planning and technical reviews\n\n * Working alongside estimating and commercial teams to contribute to value engineering exercises, identifying cost-effective design solutions without compromising performance\n\n * Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical submissions\n\n * Assisting with coordination between design, commercial and delivery teams\n\n * Supporting procurement of MEP packages and supplier engagement\n\n * Attending design and client meetings, gaining exposure to stakeholder management\n\n * Assisting with site-based engineering support during project delivery\n\nWhat They’re Looking For\n\n * Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or related discipline\n\n * 1–3 years’ experience within an MEP contractor, consultancy or subcontractor environment\n\n * Strong interest in pre-construction, design and value engineering\n\n * Understanding of building services systems (mechanical and/or electrical)\n\n * Keen to develop within a two-stage tendering environment\n\n * Strong communication skills and a proactive approach\n\nWhy This Role?\n\n * Exposure to two-stage tendering on complex London projects\n\n * Opportunity to learn directly from experienced engineers and commercial professionals\n\n * Involvement in value engineering and early-stage project decision making\n\n * Clear and structured progression pathway\n\n * Supportive, collaborative team environment
