We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Integrity Engineer to join Northern Gas Networks (NGN). As part of our Asset Integrity team, who are the custodians of all NGN’s assets, you will help manage over 2,500 above-ground assets, including offtakes and district governors, as well as 37,000 km of pipelines, with 1,200 km operating at high pressure. This is a role that offers real variety and responsibility, ensuring the integrity and safety of critical assets.
We are looking for candidates with strong knowledge of engineering policies and standards, safety management systems, and core engineering principles.
A full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role
In this role you will
Act as the primary contact for compliance queries, assessing legislative changes and advising on their impact to NGN policies and activities
Review, update, and maintain engineering documentation
Manage compliance activities for Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and Pipeline Safety Regulations (PSR)
Assess transmission asset condition and develop integrity management plans
Identify and manage risks to ensure long-term asset reliability
Support HSE liaison for pipelines and above-ground installations
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver integrity-related projects
Support the review of project design and construction records
Support regulatory reporting, compliance processes, and represent NGN on external industry committees and working groups
We are looking for
Degree or Higher Diploma in a technical or numerical discipline (or working towards)
Experience in asset integrity, engineering, or operational roles
Knowledge of above and below-ground transmission assets and gas network operations
Understanding of asset integrity, compliance and risk management
Familiarity with legislative requirements including PSSR and PSR
Proficient in Microsoft Office (SAP experience is advantageous)
SHEA gas passport, and SCO 1 & 2 (desirable but not essential)
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
