We are seeking an Asset Design Manager with a strong technical background in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software to lead the design, planning, and lifecycle management of infrastructure and equipment assets across our German port terminals.

Role Overview

The Asset Design Manager will be responsible for the design, optimization, and innovation of terminal infrastructure and mechanical assets. This role combines engineering expertise with strategic asset management and digital solutions, ensuring that Eurogate’s facilities and equipment are designed for efficiency, sustainability, and long-term performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of civil and mechanical assets, including terminal infrastructure, cranes, handling equipment, and support systems.
  • Oversee asset lifecycle planning, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage and review design projects, ensuring compliance with Eurogate standards, German regulations, and international best practices.
  • Integrate digital tools and software applications for design, simulation, and asset performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, IT, operations) to ensure assets meet operational and business needs.
  • Develop technical specifications and tender documents for procurement of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support innovation projects in automation, digital twin, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and project managers.
  • Act as key technical advisor for senior management on asset design, risk management, and investment decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Civil Engineering degree (Master’s ) with 10+ years’ professional experience in infrastructure design, planning, and project execution.
  • Mechanical Engineering expertise with 5+ years’ experience in design and application for industrial/mechanical assets (e.g., cranes, conveyors, port equipment).
  • Proven experience in software development or application of engineering software tools (CAD, BIM, asset management systems, digital twin, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of construction regulations, mechanical systems, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects within budget and schedule.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills (fluent German & English required).
  • Leadership experience in managing technical teams and external contractors/consultants.

Skills

  • Experience in port operations, logistics, or heavy industry projects.
  • Familiarity with automation systems, IoT integration, and predictive analytics for asset performance.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in design and asset management (energy efficiency, green technologies).
