Assembler/Electrical Technician - (Millersville, MD)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assembler/Electrical Technician position will consist of fabrication, wiring, assembly, and production of control boxes. Wiring could include Serial, Ethernet, and Fiber optic technologies, as well as power and other customized hook-up wiring. Most wiring is low voltage, usually 24VDC and less, with the highest being 120VAC. All assembly and wiring should be professionally built and be neat in appearance. Additionally, assembly could include placing small components onto circuit boards, hand solder through hole components to complete final assembly. Occasional setting up of various electronic components and devices is possible. In addition, must be flexible to perform other duties when needed. Since we are a small company, there could be a need to assist in other areas of our business such as inventory control, shipping, and receiving duties, etc.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • 1 to 3 years previous work experience
  • Technical schooling, college, or electrical training, with an aptitude for building, wiring, and testing is helpful.
  • Creating CAD drawings is a plus. We use Vizio
  • Adept with tools of the trade such as multimeters, crimpers, soldering iron, small hand & power tools, etc.
  • Has functioning knowledge of MSWord and Excel.
  • Ability to be flexible and perform other duties as needed.
  • Shows up to work on time, fit for duty, and ready to work.
  • Has reliable transportation to and from work. (their own car is ideal)

SKILLS:

  • Comfortable using small hand and power tools, and tools of the trade.
  • Soldering and wiring skills.
  • Basic computer skills. (working knowledge of MSWord and Excel).
  • Basic documentation skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Able to work independently and with a group.
  • Mission and team oriented.
  • Self-Starter.

DUTIES:

  • Fabrication of enclosures, drilling, cutting, and assembly as needed.
  • Create wire harnesses based on CAD drawings and using common tools.
  • Label, wire, and connect control panel terminal boards from wiring diagrams and/or direction.
  • Check wiring for proper coding and termination; check for shorts, grounds, and continuity.
  • May participate in testing of completed control panels.
  • May diagnose and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties.
  • Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues.
  • Maintain storage of parts and inventory.
  • Flexibility regarding duties. (Wear many hats).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required, tech school or college education is ideal.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in electrical assembly with the aptitude to improve skills.
  • Must have a valid drives license and legally able to work in the US. (US citizenship )
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation, show up to work on time, and ready to work.
  • Must pass background check.

GROWTH POTENTIAL:

  • Possibilities of growth into circuit board development, CAD drawings, firmware writing, system design, etc.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm (30 minutes, unpaid lunch)
