The role

 

We are looking for an Architecture & Networks Engineer, to join a dynamic engineering team, to support growth of the product range and raise the quality of Norton motorcycles to new heights.

You will be working within the electrical engineering department to deliver the next generation of Norton’s electrical systems. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the electrical architecture & communication database networks for all Norton products. You will be expected to deliver future technologies into the product plans. The individual should be a highly motivated hands-on team player, accustomed to working cross-functionally to meet the department and business objectives.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

As an Architecture & Networks Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the design of new electrical architectures across all Norton products.
  • Lead the technical direction, specification, and delivery of vehicle communication systems such as CAN, LIN and FlexRay.
  • Creation of system requirements for all ECU's and the whole vehicle networks.
  • Creation of requirements for wake-up, post run, shutdown and power management of the motorcycle communication systems.
  • Creation of testing requirements and test plans for the Test Team
  • Schedule and conduct busload usage for all network ECUs to meet system requirements.
  • Manage all network testing/simulation tools.
  • knowledge of dSPACE HIL toolchain
  • Responsible for the overall vehicle network sign-off and compliance of all ECU's.
  • Responsible for CAN DBC file creation.
  • Responsible for the motorcycle network topology diagrams.
  • Support concern reviews with progress reports and up-dates to electrical concerns.
  • Advanced knowledge of Vector Canalyzer/CANoe/Canape tools
  • Contributing to the definition of the software development process.
  • Familiarity with the creation of scripts in CAPL language.
  • Working alongside the functional safety team to ensure Functional Safety Requirements (FSRs) are met and delivered.
  • Working with Engineers within the wider teams to ensure that all requirements are captured.
  • Support the integration Engineers through the development of the vehicles to ensure any issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Working with other departments in the selection of suitable suppliers and components.
  • Working with the wider electrical team to develop functional specifications and requirements for modules.

 

Personal Specification

 

The candidate must have experience in the following. Automotive engineering process experience, such as :

-Creation of Automotive Technical Requirements Specifications.

-DFMEA, PFMEA.

-Design Verification Planning.

-Change Management Process.

-Problem Solving processes.

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a complex and ambiguous environment.
  • Proactive personality, positive and strongly passionate about the product
  • Willingness to learn new tools and processes.
  • Effective time management skills to manage time between several projects.
  • Competent using Microsoft Business Tools.
  • Commercial awareness to understand the impact of decisions on the business.
  • Understanding of Electrical Integration for hardware and software configuration.

 

The following are desirable, not essential:

  • Knowledge of components and logic used in electric vehicles.
  • Experience developing products in line with Functional Safety and Cybersecurity
