Domain Cityscape Architects is seeking a project manager to be responsible for managing and overseeing architectural projects under the Senior Project Manager from the initial concept through to construction and completion. This includes managing the entire project lifecycle: schematic design, design development, construction drawings, bidding and contract negotiation, construction administration, and project close-out.
The role requires coordinating internal design teams and external consultants, managing schedules and budgets, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations, and serving as a liaison between clients, contractors, and stakeholders to keep the project on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards. The project manager is aware and assists Senior PM with maintaining the team’s time, resources, and project deliverables to ensure successful project completion with client satisfaction. They are often the central communication hub and advocate for balancing design excellence with pragmatic project execution.
Work Environment: In office position (Dearborn, MI)
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing team coordination and maintaining staff productivity.
- Managing project schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Ability to put together a full set of construction documents seamlessly
- Maintaining preparation and quality control of construction documents with production team.
- Facilitating client programming and translating requirements into design and space plans.
- Construction administrator by reviewing shop drawings, submittals, change orders, and conducting site visits and inspections.
- Managing good communication across all parties and maintaining accurate project records and meeting minutes documentation to be sent to clients and team.
- Identifying and mitigating risks and resolving project issues to senior project manager promptly.
- Supporting consultants and value engineering.
- Comfortable with dealing with townships for permitting / submitting for permits
- Maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and legal standards throughout the project.
- Mentoring junior staff to learn detailing, coordination and more difficult elements they need to understand during all phases of the project
Qualifications
- 5-6+ years of experience in commercial & retail design
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- Experience designing commercial and industrial projects
- Strong interfacing with clients
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to sketch design concepts and convey design intent with design team and clients
- Strong Revit and AutoCAD proficiency required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours
- Ability to guide other team members to reach goals efficiently and effectively
