VCBO is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Architect to lead design and delivery efforts on some of our most impactful projects—most notably within the K–12 education sector. Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Lead design, technical direction, and documentation for complex architectural projects, with an emphasis on K–12 work.
- Guide interdisciplinary teams and provide mentorship that strengthens skills, quality, and collaboration across the firm.
- Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure alignment on design vision, goals, and deliverables.
- Oversee project quality, standards, and workflows across all phases—from concept through construction administration.
- Represent VCBO in client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements, helping shape and communicate project vision.
- Support firmwide initiatives related to design excellence, technical standards, and best practices.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (required).
- 10+ years of professional experience with demonstrated leadership across multiple project phases.
- Architectural licensure but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Revit (required); familiarity with additional software such as SketchUp, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, or BIM coordination tools is a plus.
- Experience in K–12 design strongly , though open to varied backgrounds with demonstrated interest or aptitude.
- Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor others, lead teams, and uphold design and technical standards.
- Self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable managing complex project demands with professionalism and autonomy.
