Architect - Up to £50K - Central Birmingham (Free Parking on site)\n\nWe are actively seeking an Architect with Housing project experience to join an award-winning practice in Central Birmingham.\n\nThe practice\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established architectural practice based in Birmingham. A firm of Chartered Architects specialising in home extensions, loft conversions and housing developments, established for 30 years. The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, projects across the residential, commercial, educational, and community sectors.\n\nThis is an award-winning practice that has a fantastic reputation in the West Midlands, you’ll be joining a small team who are passionate about delivering meaningful spaces for their clients.\n\nYour role\n\nAs an Architect, you will be involved in a wide range of residential, housing / apartment projects and mixed-use projects.

Key responsibilities include:\n\n * Conducting measured surveys and attending site visits\n\n * Taking detailed client briefs and translating them into design concepts & sketch plans\n\n * Preparing and submitting comprehensive drawing packages for planning and building regulations particularly for house extensions.\n\n * Coordinating with consultants, contractors, and local authorities\n\n * Ensuring compliance with UK building regulations, planning policies & permitted development rights and statutory legislation.\n\n * Supporting the design team with technical detailing and presentation materials.\n\n * Contributing to project delivery from concept through to completion.\n\n * Support quality assurance and maintain project documentation standards\n\nCandidate requirements\n\nTo be considered for this role, you should have:\n\n * A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a UK architectural practice undertaking similar work.\n\n * Strong experience within the residential sector on housing extensions and small scale housing schemes.\n\n * Proficiency in AutoCAD\n\n * Proficiency to write tender packages and producing drawings in AutoCAD.\n\n * Proficiency to produce all relevant drawings and applications\n\n * Excellent technical knowledge and attention to detail\n\n * Strong understanding of the building regulations\n\n * Strong communication and organisational skills\n\n * A detailed understanding of Seven Trent Build over and near too agreements.\n\n * A detailed knowledge of permitted development rights in particular for residential properties.\n\n * Reasonable knowledge of the Party Wall Act and ability to serve relevant notices. (Not draft awards this will be done by Party Wall Surveyors separately).\n\n * Ability to work on your own initiative\n\n * Ability to work as a team player, work under high pressure in this fast-paced environment meeting strict deadlines.\n\n * Advantageous: Good design sensibility and freehand sketching ability\n\n * Advantageous: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop\n\n * Advantageous: Knowledge of the role of the Principal Designer CDM/ BRPD\n\n * Advantageous: Detailed knowledge of Revit
