Job DescriptionMechanical Applications EngineerRipley, Derbyshire£30,000 - £50,000 DOE + Bonus + Private Healthcare + 5% Matched PensionPermanent | Full-Time | Office Based PreferredAre you a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys the technical side of developing solutions, but also likes working with customers and seeing projects through from initial enquiry?Recruit 2 You are working with an established and growing engineering business looking to recruit a Mechanical Applications Engineer to join its Sales and Engineering team.This is a varied role sitting between engineering and technical sales, where you'll take customer requirements and help turn them into practical, commercially viable engineered solutions.You'll be involved from initial enquiry and concept development through to costing, technical proposals and contract award, working on bespoke equipment for customers across the Energy and Process sectors.What you'll be doingAs Mechanical Applications Engineer, you will:Review customer specifications, drawings and technical requirementsDevelop concept designs and preliminary engineering solutionsCarry out mechanical engineering calculations to support proposalsPrepare technical documentation, sketches and specifications for costingSupport proposals for bespoke equipment including pressure equipment, heat exchangers, piping systems, structural frames, filtration systems, modular skids and noise control equipmentLiaise with suppliers to obtain technical information and pricingCoordinate internal and external cost estimatesProduce bid cost sheets and detailed technical proposalsIdentify alternative engineering solutions where appropriateWork closely with Sales, Engineering, Project, Quality and Supply Chain teamsProvide technical support to both internal teams and customersAttend customer meetings within the UK and occasionally overseasSupport product development and continuous improvement activitiesWhat we're looking forWe're particularly interested in candidates with experience in Applications Engineering, Proposals Engineering, Technical Sales or a mechanically focused engineering role involving customer specifications and technical solutions.You'll ideally have:At least 2 years' experience within Applications Engineering, Technical Sales or a similar engineering positionA strong understanding of general mechanical engineering principlesKnowledge of Applied Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mass/Heat Balance calculationsExperience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical standardsStrong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience preparing technical proposals, quotations, costings or concept solutionsGood commercial awareness and the ability to communicate confidently with customers and suppliersAn Engineering qualification to HND level or equivalent as a minimumA full UK/EU driving licenceThe ability to travel overseas when requiredA relevant Engineering Degree would be advantageous but isn't essential.Experience within any of the following would also be particularly beneficial:Gas Turbines | Power | Carbon Capture | Hydrogen | Industrial Energy Recovery | Waste-to-X | Renewable Heating | Power Grid | Water Treatment | NuclearExperience with fabricated or integrated mechanical equipment, structural engineering principles and UK, European or US design codes would also be advantageous.What's in it for you?£30,000 - £50,000 salary, depending on experienceCompetitive bonus scheme5% matched pensionPrivate healthcareEV salary sacrifice schemeCycle to Work salary sacrifice schemeOpportunity to work on technically challenging bespoke engineering projectsExposure to rapidly developing areas including Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and energy recoveryLong-term opportunity within a growing engineering businessInterested?This role could suit an experienced Applications Engineer or Proposals Engineer, but we're equally interested in hearing from Mechanical Engineers or Technical Sales Engineers who have the right technical background and want to move further into applications and proposals engineering.Apply today with your latest CV and Recruit 2 You will contact you to discuss the position and your experience in more detail.TPBN1_UKTJ
