Job Functions:

  • Reviews new model service parts for establishment in the catalog compilation system. Determines if parts should be available individually or as part of larger vehicle production-level assemblies based on customer safety and satisfaction, US dealer (and export country) needs and cost.
  • Assigns new service parts numbers, compiles catalog of parts data. Interprets CAD data, references photos and other information to develop catalog parts illustrations to prepare vehicle service parts catalog for distribution to dealers and affiliates. Uses standards and knowledge of dealer operations to optimize illustration layout which facilitates parts identification by dealers.
  • Issues new part numbers for kits, assemblies, and non-production level components via service parts planning sheet, including kit and component structures, to enable vendors to determine how parts are to be built or assembled.
  • Investigates and resolves customer technical inquiries received from team, parts distribution centers, affiliates and other distributors. Problems include missing or incorrect catalog data, incorrect stock, interpretation of data, etc. Investigates by confirming engineering data, talking to requestor to get additional information as needed, and determines resolution. Provides quick, clear and concise actionable resolution to requestor.
  • Prepares stock check documentation to validate inventory of service parts. Includes photos, shape data or other descriptive data to enable PDC staff to validate inventory. Restricts parts in the system to prevent parts movement until all inventory is validated.
  • Reviews parts complexity reduction proposals for technical feasibility, customer satisfaction and cost-benefit. Elevates potential concerns to Analyst 2 or Planner as needed.
  • Maintains necessary for parts registration. Applies correct coding for parts restriction, supersessions and service files. Determines part supersessions and service files by interpreting engineering data and conducting additional research as needed. Considers and balances business impact and customer impact when determining part supersessions.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a supply and distribution process plus extensive nomenclature and functional knowledge of automotive service parts as may typically be obtained through a college degree in Business or related area (degree required), plus a minimum of two years working in sales, marketing or service of automotive parts. Exceptional analytical skills, ability to work in cross-functional and team environment, demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US aftersales market from a business and customer perspective. Understands inner workings of a US dealership and basic responsibilities of various dealership roles. Understands unique aspects of US automotive service market and nomenclature used in dealerships.
  • Mastery of English with strong verbal and written skills is a must. Must be able to clearly and expertly communicate with US dealers (telephone, email, etc.) to help solve service parts related issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC and mainframe applications utilized in the manufacturing and distribution of highly complex and technical products. Knowledge of proprietary supply and distribution systems, and database applications is strongly . Some of these systems include NMPS, G2B, FAST2000, SpaceVertex and NX/Team Center.
  • Ability to understand and maintain the accuracy of a database. Ability to compile and analyze a variety of conflicting information about technical products and exercise discretion to determine the most appropriate methods of compiling, coding and selling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other technical experts regarding the sale and marketing of service parts and related products.
  • Can problem-solve. Knows where to dig and how deep to dig to clearly define the problem and to develop multiple solutions and using various tools, determines optimal solution that satisfies the business needs as well as positively impacting dealer and customer satisfaction.
