Job DescriptionJob Description

SSI needs to add an Instrumentation Technician to support our current list of services provided to the U.S. Navy.  This is a contingent opportunity requiring a signed letter of intent for proposal use.
 

Responsibilities

  • Performs fabrication, installation and operational support of instrumentation systems and wiring harnesses on various aircraft and test articles.
  • Operate, install, adjust, and maintain computer systems, consoles, simulators and other data acquisition, test and measurement instruments and equipment, which are used to evaluate air vehicles. This position utilizes wiring diagrams and technical information provided by engineers and senior technicians to independently fabricate the instrumentation system racks and wiring harnesses including installation and performs pre-flight and post-flight operational checks on instrumentation systems prior to and following test flights.
  • Provide support during aircraft measurement calibrations as required. For the electronics track, applies learned technical knowledge to perform fabrication, assembly, soldering, repair, modification and installation of electrical components, PCBs, wiring harnesses, cables, wires, wiring assemblies and associated parts.
  • The Technician must have the technical knowledge to demonstrate a practical application of tools and techniques to assigned duties including the ability to perform acceptance tests and measurements on electronic components and assemblies.
  • The ability to perform soldering and knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform required functions.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Must obtain (and subsequently maintain) EWIS
    certification within 60 days. Government taught class may be used if available. Other Branch specific training may be required and provided.
  • For the electronics track, must obtain (and subsequently maintain) certifications for
    IPC/EIA- J-STD 001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-7711/7721. Government taught class may be used if available.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in performing the stated functions.
