Adjunct Professor Position
Construction and Facility Management
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position teaches and advises underground students in the areas of construction and facility management. Reporting to the Chair of Construction and Facility Management Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach construction and facility management related courses. Ensure courses meet educational objectives and student learning enhancement.
- Teach two or three courses each semester, subject to department teaching loads.
- The courses are combination of online, in-person, and hybrid.
- Participate in departmental education activities related to the assigned courses.
- Provide academic advising and registration assistance for the students enrolled in assigned classes.
- Build partnerships with industry partners and professional associations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Facility Management, Project Management, Real Estate Development or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Possess record of successful teaching experience at higher education level.
- Construction and facility industry experience in commercial, residential, engineering design infrastructure, real estate, civil, facility management, or other related sectors.
- Ability to teach in the three of four areas of project management, estimating, scheduling, BIM, mechanical, electrical, plan reading, sustainability, AutoCAD, Revit, safety, real estate development, construction laws, or construction economics.
- Must be committed to embracing among students, faculty, and staff.
- Able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni.
- Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
PREFERED:
- An earned terminal degree from an accredited higher education institute.
- 10 plus year industry experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sitting or standing occasionally for extended periods of time, and repetitive motions for operating computer mouse and keyboard. Requires ability to push, pull, bend, grasp, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. Requires ability to hear and effectively communicate on the telephone, in the online learning environment, and in person. Visual demands: viewing computer monitor and reading.
