About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with construction industry experience to oversee all aspects of the division’s accounting operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who is well-versed in Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and the construction project accounting lifecycle and holds an active CPA license. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Division CFO and will lead the accounting close process, manage audits, and drive financial accuracy and compliance across the division.

 

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, job costing, and revenue recognition
  • Oversee day-to-day project-level accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, and cost tracking
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and industry-specific accounting standards and policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, leading all audit-related activities and documentation
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations, and executive leadership to deliver actionable financial insights
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and divisional financial statements with precision and consistency
  • Assist in the development of budget forecasts, financial modeling, and variance analysis to guide planning and performance
  • Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to support a scalable and efficient accounting function
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company accounting procedures and internal policies

 

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s )
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in construction industry accounting
  • Strong expertise in WIP accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and job cost analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with construction ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, Procore)
  • Previous experience in a lead accounting role or supervisory capacity
  • Background in public accounting or experience managing financial audits
  • Familiarity with bonding, lien releases, and subcontractor compliance
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-state operations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment with multiple concurrent priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
