Position Overview
The 3rd Shift Module Leader provides oversight and work direction for a team of 5 skilled trades personnel and 10-15 other production-related wage employees in machining, metal fabrication, and welding operations. The leader ensures maintenance projects, preventative maintenance, and production requirements are met, working in coordination with day shift module leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, direct, and support a shift team of skilled trades and production employees.
- Ensure assigned personnel have adequate training, work instructions, and tools to accomplish tasks.
- Monitor control plans and troubleshoot workmanship issues to maintain quality standards.
- Supervise production activities and ensure products meet or exceed established quality requirements.
- Monitor team performance and administer corrective actions, including discipline as necessary.
- Respond to complaints, ensuring compliance with company policies, practices, procedures, and work rules.
- Prioritize facilities, maintenance, and production activities based on production schedules.
- Collaborate with day shift counterparts to communicate work hours, policy updates, and relevant information.
- Plan for equipment and facility maintenance to maximize uptime and asset utilization.
- Implement and monitor workplace safety programs and housekeeping standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervision in an industrial setting.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, skilled trades, or other technical fields.
- Proficient with SAP and related maintenance transactions; familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
- Strong communication, people leadership, time management, and project management skills.
- Ability to be on-call and work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Solid understanding of safe work practices and environmental requirements.
- Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining composure.
- Technical aptitude to support and supervise production and maintenance activities.
- Experience leading capital and expense projects.
- Effective decision-making under pressure with a focus on accountability.
Qualifications
- Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Experience supervising skilled trades such as electricians, pipefitters, millwrights, and building/grounds staff.
- Experience leading UAW-represented employees.
- Exposure to automation, controls, and robotics.
- Experience creating purchase orders in SAP.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent related work experience .
