Hoffer Plastics is hiring for "Assembly Technicians", " 2nd shift".

The Assembly Technician is responsible for molding parts in accordance with internal and external customer requirements. This includes machine set up, auxiliary equipment set up, and process parameter input. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a neat and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards, and adhering to safety polices. This position must be able to work from verbal and written instructions as well as utilize company production software programs from computer terminals.

The Set Up / Assembly Technician position is divided into three classifications based on skill set and responsibility, beginning with the "C" level and progressing through to an "A" level. The following responsibilities are based on these classifications; however, each level is responsible for all aspects of the levels beneath them.

(Starting Pay $17.50 - $23.50 (based on experience)

2nd Shift Hours are 04:00pm-12:00am

Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities will vary based on skill level and experience.

Level C

  • Complete C level training curriculum
  • Complete B level training curriculum during level C
  • Perform material handler duties as assigned
  • Use IQMS to move raw and finished parts to and from the designated areas
  • Use IQMS to clear pallet and add to pallet
  • Weigh up and record machine scrap
  • Assist on set up, and changes to get machines running and meet production demands
  • Set assembly machine process parameters with the assistance of a foreman, supervisor, A or B level assembly technician
  • Monitor production for accuracy and efficiency and work with quality inspectors to identify defects

Level B

  • Complete A level training curriculum during level B
  • Ability to change programs on the liner vision systems
  • Print and fill out foreman's log
  • Be able to do a set up change on all liner machines
  • Able to fill out the daily operator machine assignments
  • Able to correctly change and identify inventory amounts of raw parts after a job is completed
  • Troubleshoot process, machine, and auxiliary equipment problems and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime
  • Learn new technology as it is brought to manufacturing
  • Works with Supervisor and/or Lead Molding Technician to identify ways to improve productivity and reduce scrap, defects, etc.

Level A

  • Work with quality inspectors to identify defects and make good decisions relative to process changes
  • Ability to change and troubleshoot/make adjustments to the liner vision systems
  • Able to enter daily production into IQMS
  • Keeps current with new technology in assembly, auxiliary equipment, robots, etc.
  • Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others
  • Helps maintain 5S and cleanliness in the Plant by doing assigned cleaning tasks and set a good example for others
  • Show the ability to assume responsibilities of supervisor or foremen in their absence
  • All team members shall:

    • Continue to grow job specific knowledge and use tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
    • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent will:

  • usually stand/ walk most of the shift.
  • frequently sit, bend, kneel and twist.
  • occasionally push, pull and lift up to 75lbs. or more. Occasionally lift above waist and/or shoulder up to 75lbs. and over.
  • utilize manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • regularly perform hand/ wrist/ finger movement and foot for pedal controls on forklift.
  • occasionally perform keyboarding and squeezing movements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education of High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to successfully complete the "C" level Assembly Technician training requirements
  • Must be able to lift 55 pounds on a semi-regular basis
  • Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight-hour shift
  • Proficient in reading / writing English
  • Computer proficient
