World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract.\nThis role would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer who comes from a strong Defence or Aerospace background has strong Creo / PRO-E skills.    \n\nJob Title:  Mechanical Design Engineer\nRate: £50.00 per hour\nLocation: Stevenage\nHybrid / Remote working: 4 days per week onsite and 1 day remote (flexible on start and finish time)\nContract: 37 Hours per week\nOvertime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’\nDuration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)\nIR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)\n\nMechanical Design Engineer Job Description:\n\nAn opportunity to become part of Europe’s No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer’s needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nCarry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.\nSupport/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.\nSupport to functional & environmental testing and trials.\nLiaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.\nPlanning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.\nGain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity\nSkillset/experience required:\n\nExperience using Creo 3D design tool\nKnowledge of several of the following……………..\n\nManufacturing processes\nTolerance studies\nEnvironmental test\nMass property calculations\nMaterial selection\nFMEA\nDesign for Manufacture/Assembly\nEnvironmental Gasket Sealing\nTooling/fixtures design\nStructural design\nDefence Standards\nReview processes\nProduct Lifecycles\nIndustrial validation\nAn ability to work as part of a multifunctional engineering team and be able to partake in or host design reviews.\nAn appreciation of other engineering areas/domains
