Welder / Fabricator — Metal Recycling Company

Location: Elgin, IL
Pay: $17–$22 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time

Ben’s Recycling is a family-owned metal recycling company serving the Elgin area and surrounding communities. We handle all types of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and operate a busy yard and truck fleet. We take pride in maintaining our equipment and trailers to keep operations running efficiently and safely.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a mid-level welder/fabricator to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will perform repairs and fabrication work on semi-trailers, containers, and metal equipment used in daily operations. This role is hands-on and essential to keeping our fleet safe and operational.

Responsibilities

• Repair, weld, and fabricate semi-trailer frames, beds, and components
• Perform MIG and stick welding on mild steel and structural parts
• Inspect trailers and equipment for damage or wear
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently
• Assist with general shop maintenance and fabrication projects as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Requirements

• 2+ years of welding or fabrication experience (preferably in trailer, heavy equipment, or industrial metal work)
• Proficiency in MIG welding; stick and torch cutting experience a plus
• Ability to read basic measurements and follow repair instructions
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in an outdoor or shop setting
