Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTechnical Product Solutions Engineer (Energy) Location: Columbus, OH (hybrid onsite)Employees: ~50| Team Size: 6Industry: Energy/UtilitiesReports To: SVP, Strategy and Innovation Seeking a Technical Product Solutions Engineer to play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, evaluating, and launching new offerings that address emerging needs in the residential infrastructure and resource management space. This individual will bridge technical development and market strategy – translating customer pain points into scalable solutions. This is a strategic, high-ownership opportunity suited for someone with a blend of technical acumen, business fluency, and a passion for building from scratch. The role involves ideation, design, feasibility analysis, cross-functional coordination, and go-to-market planning.Most Important Responsibilities:
- Identify, vet, and develop new technical solutions and service offerings for multi-unit residential environments.
- Build initial business cases and conduct opportunity assessments to guide investment and development decisions.
- Analyze market conditions, competitor activity, and regulatory factors to shape solution feasibility.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, field operations, sales, and marketing teams to ensure aligned execution.
- Drive solution development from concept through pilot and market launch, including pricing and commercialization.
- Secure internal stakeholder buy-in and executive approval for proposed initiatives.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships to support deployment or integration of new technologies.
- Maintain documentation and reporting to track milestones, KPIs, and team deliverables.
What you can bring to the table to impact this role, team, and organization:
- 3-5 years of experience in product development or technical solutions within a utilities or energy context.
- Experience working with or within regional energy markets is highly (PJM or ERCOT)
- Understanding of energy or utility rate structures, billing analysis, and market frameworks.
- Background in developing and launching customer-facing products or services.
- Strong financial modeling and business case development skills.
- Project leadership and cross-functional communication capabilities, working across multiple departments.
Nice-to-Have/Bonus Skills:
- MDU or multi-family utility experience
- Bachelor’s Degree highly
