Job Title: Assistant Technical Manager – Food Manufacturing



Salary: £40,000



Location: Spalding, Lincolnshire



Position: Full-time, Permanent



Overview



The Flavour Network are partnered with a leading UK food manufacturer who is seeking an Assistant Technical Manager to join their Technical Team. The role of Assistant Technical Manager is a development role for someone with previous customer-facing experience, offering a clear progression path: the intention is for the successful candidate to move into a Technical Manager role within 12 months. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to combine customer relationship skills with technical knowledge and grow their career in a dynamic food business.



As Assistant Technical Manager, you’ll maintain and develop customer relationships, support product quality and compliance, and contribute to innovation projects that help the business stay competitive and deliver on growth objectives.



Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Assistant Technical Manager



* Maintain and support customer technical requirements, specifications, and KPIs across the supply chain.



* Support complaints analysis, residue testing, supplier due diligence, and customer queries.



* Assist the Quality team to ensure compliance with customer and internal standards.



* Contribute to innovation and R&D projects, including product variety, packaging, sustainability, and process improvements.



* Work cross-functionally to identify efficiencies and maintain competitive advantage.



* Support site and grower visits, as well as audits, using outcomes to drive improvements.



* Maintain customer and internal data requirements, ensuring accurate reporting and communication.



Requirements for the Assistant Technical Manager



* Experience working in Food Manufacturing (fresh produce is desirable)



* Previous customer-facing experience within a technical capacity.



* Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.



* Ability to interpret and manage technical and customer requirements.



* Commercial awareness and a proactive problem-solving mindset.



* IT proficiency, particularly in Excel or other data management software.



* Previous experience managing retailer technical requirements is advantageous.
