Role Title: Technical Manager – Water Non-Infrastructure Location: Peterborough (hybrid working available)\n Business Unit: @one Alliance\n Programme: AMP8 – Clean Water Non-Infrastructure\n Reports To: Design Delivery Lead / Programme Technical Lead\n\n Role Overview: As a Technical Manager – Water Non-Infrastructure, you will be the technical authority behind the planning and delivery of clean water treatment solutions for AMP8 within the @one Alliance. Based in Peterborough, you will take a lead role in shaping the design strategy for treatment assets—ensuring solutions are innovative, buildable, efficient, and regulatory-compliant.\n This position focuses on non-infrastructure assets—such as treatment works, pumping stations, chemical dosing systems, and boreholes—rather than pipelines or networks. You will be at the heart of delivering capital projects that help ensure a safe, sustainable water supply for the future.\n Key Responsibilities: 1.

Technical Leadership\nLead the design development of clean water treatment solutions for AMP8 capital projects.\nEnsure technical solutions meet water quality standards, regulatory targets (e.g., PFAS, nitrate removal), and environmental commitments.\nAct as the primary technical interface across design, delivery, operations, and supply chain teams.2. Design Oversight\nManage and direct multi-disciplinary design teams (civil, MEICA, process, chemical).\nOversee the production of technical documentation including drawings, specifications, design risk assessments, and feasibility studies.\nEnsure that designs are aligned with project budgets, buildability requirements, operational needs, and programme timelines.3. Innovation & Value Engineering\nDrive innovation through early contractor involvement, modular design, and digital design tools (e.g., BIM, digital twins).\nIdentify and implement value-engineered solutions that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and enhance sustainability.4.

Stakeholder Engagement\nLiaise with internal and external stakeholders including Anglian Water, regulators, supply chain partners, and asset management teams.\nProvide technical assurance and input at all project stages—from concept through to handover.5. Compliance & Governance\nEnsure full compliance with DWI, WQ standards, H&S regulations (CDM), and @one Alliance delivery governance.\nChampion a quality-first approach, contributing to continuous improvement and lessons learned programmes.Essential Experience & Qualifications:\nDegree-qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or related discipline).\nChartered or working toward chartership (ICE, IChemE, IMechE, CIWEM).\nExtensive experience in the design and delivery of water treatment works and associated clean water non-infrastructure.\nStrong understanding of chemical dosing systems, pumping stations, supernatant return systems, and borehole developments.\nDemonstrated experience working within design & build environments and/or regulated utility frameworks (e.g., AMP7/8).\nProven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams on capital investment programmes.Desirable Skills & Knowledge:\nExperience with emerging contaminants (e.g., PFAS) and modern treatment technologies.\nFamiliarity with digital design tools (BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, GIS).\nKnowledge of Anglican Water design standards and operational requirements.\nStrong commercial awareness and ability to balance technical excellence with budget and programme constraints.\nAbility to foresee and mitigate design risks early in the life cycle.Why Join the @one Alliance?\nWork at the forefront of water innovation within one of the UK’s most collaborative and progressive alliances.\nHelp shape AMP8 outcomes that support environmental goals and resilient water infrastructure.\nHybrid working, excellent career progression opportunities, and a supportive, multidisciplinary environment
