Reports To: Head of SIS Implementation
- We are leading a multi-year transformation of a Student Information System (SIS) and are seeking an experienced, results-driven Program Manager to lead this critical initiative from planning through full implementation.
- This is a hands-on leadership role for a high-performing professional with a proven track record in ERP/SIS implementation—preferably within a higher education environment. The Program Manager will lead and coordinate cross-functional business, technical, and vendor workstreams to ensure alignment with strategic goals, stakeholder needs, and regulatory compliance.
- The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and adaptable leader with strong project management expertise, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to manage complexity across systems, teams, and priorities.
- Key responsibilities include guiding planning activities, ensuring data readiness, managing internal and external integrations, and driving execution of the SIS initiative.
- Success in this role requires resilience, critical thinking, and a flexible approach to tradeoffs.
- The Program Manager must collaborate proactively across diverse teams, align stakeholders, and implement solutions that deliver lasting institutional impact with a strong sense of ownership to deliver transformative outcomes.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Program Ownership
- Ensure that project milestones, and timelines are properly defined.
- Ensure that team members and implementation partners achieve established project goals (scope) in a timely manner.
- Implement the change management process that ensures a smooth transition and ensures that process is followed.
- Create a comprehensive communication plan for the SIS implementation and auxiliary projects (eg: data cleansing, integrations, reporting, data hub).
Strategic Planning
- Maintain a highly visible project timeline that outlines the implementation schedule for all stakeholders, while taking into account other related initiatives.
- Create and maintain a multi-phase implementation roadmap with key milestones, dependencies, and success metrics
- Anticipate change and build flexibility into timelines and deliverables.
- Identify strategic and operational risks early (e.g., resource gaps, change resistance, data quality issues)
- Design mitigation strategies and contingency plans that minimize impact.
- Map stakeholder influence and expectations.
- Develop a structured engagement and communication plan to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Use metrics, benchmarks, and feedback loops to make informed decisions.
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to track progress against deliverables and roadmaps.
- Align program delivery with a realistic and proactive organization level change management plan.
- Integrate training, communication, and user adoption into strategic delivery.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and escalation paths.
- Plan for post-implementation optimization (e.g., system upgrades, support models, analytics).
Program Execution:
- Lead and manage large-scale programs, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Develop and implement program plans, including scope, schedule, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define program objectives, requirements, and deliverables.
- Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring program goals are achieved within constraints.
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including technical, operations, and business stakeholders.
- Monitor program progress, track milestones, and provide regular status updates to senior management.
- Regularly interact with internal and external leadership, including executives, acting as the primary escalation point.
- Create and maintain program documentation, including standard artifacts and reporting dashboards.
- Define and manage program governance (controls). Actively manage risks and issues, taking appropriate corrective measures.
- Maintain a forward-looking view of assigned programs, anticipating issues before they arise.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the program team.
- Interpret contract terms and manage program scope, deliverables and milestones
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Team Leadership:
- Partner with the technical and business project manager(s) to ensure project resources are adequately assigned.
- Working with implementation partners, Head of SIS/ERP Implementation and technical/business leadership, define project tasks and goals for each project team and ensure team members are meeting these goals.
- System Integration
- Oversee the integration of new systems with existing platforms, ensuring seamless functionality, data integrity and security.
- Coordinate with IT teams and external vendors in configuring, testing, and deploying integrated solutions.
- Establish and maintain data standards and protocols to facilitate effective integration across systems.
- Understanding of Data Governance
- Experience with ETL processes and tools
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate project updates, milestones, timelines and deliverables to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Act as liaison between project team members and project leadership.
- Participate in partner interactions and head escalations
- Participate in coordination activities as suggested by the Head of the SIS Implementation and implementation partner.
Knowledge
- Expert knowledge of the principles and practices of project management.
- High business acumen with demonstrated ability to critically assess the relationship between business value and technical solutions.
- Ability to build and present executive-level presentation documents.
- Strong understanding of enterprise-level systems, including ERP, CRM, LMS, SIS and other administrative and academic platforms.
- Solid understanding of the principles of enterprise architecture and solution architecture.
- Strong understanding of the principles of software development and integration design.
- Knowledge of data governance principles, compliance requirements, and information security best practices.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent vendor management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience managing multidisciplinary teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.

- Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP) and/or technical certifications in relevant technologies are highly desirable.
Required Work Experience
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale systems implementation projects from conception to completion.
- 5 or more years of related leadership experience in technology-related roles.
Work Experience
- Experience implementing a major SIS solution (Banner, Colleague, Workday Student, etc.)

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business or related field is required.
Education
- PMP, PgMP or equivalent certification is strongly desired.
- ITIL Foundation Certification or higher .
