Job Overview:

We are looking for a Solar Site Survey Technician to join our solar installation team. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct on-site surveys for both residential and commercial solar energy systems, assess site conditions, and collect all necessary data to support accurate system design and installation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of solar energy, construction, and electrical systems, along with a passion for sustainability and renewable energy. Additionally, this position requires quality control and site inspections. The technician will also be responsible for other duties and tasks assigned by management from time to time.


Key Responsibilities:


Conduct Site Surveys:

  • Perform thorough, on-site surveys for residential and commercial properties to assess the feasibility of solar installation. This includes evaluating roof space, shading, , tilt, and potential obstructions such as trees, vents, chimneys, and other structural elements.

Assess Structural Integrity:

  • Examine the structural integrity of the roof and overall building. Report on any structural concerns that may require additional analysis or remediation.

Measure and Record Data:

  • Use various tools to accurately measure roof dimensions, pitch, and angles. Document electrical panel details, and meter locations.

Assess Electrical Systems:

  • Review the electrical infrastructure of the home, including the main service panel, breakers, and grounding systems.

Communicate with Customers:

  • Meet with homeowners to discuss the survey process, answer questions, and review equipment locations. Through clear and professional communication, ensure customer satisfaction and build trust.

Ensure Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures while on site. Ensure that all equipment is handled safely and that work complies with local codes and regulations.

Troubleshoot and Problem Solve:

  • Identify potential challenges during the survey process, such as shading, roof angle limitations, or electrical compatibility issues. Work with the design and engineering teams to develop solutions.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Experience & Skills:

  • Previous experience in solar energy, construction, electrical work, or a related field .
  • Knowledge of solar energy systems, electrical components, and residential construction is a plus.
  • Familiarity with roof types, pitch, and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in solar installation, electrical work, or a related field is a plus.
  • OSHA or safety certification is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at heights and on roofs.
  • Ability to maneuver through attic spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. ? Soft Skills:

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation.

Working Conditions:

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position, Overtime, and occasional weekends may be required depending on project deadlines and customer availability.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel out of town or out of state may be required. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Requirements

  • Valid drivers license
  • OSHA 10
  • Working knowledge of Solar (2 years minimum)
  • Experience in site surveying in the Solar industry
