Job Description

Senior Quantity Surveyor\n\nLocation: Oxford\nSector: Large House Builder\nSalary: Up to £85,000 + Package\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to join an award-winning residential developer delivering large, design-led schemes across the South East. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take commercial responsibility for multi-phase housing sites, leading procurement, financial control and subcontract management.\n\nYou’ll work as part of a highly motivated commercial team, supporting junior QS staff while working closely with operations, technical and land teams to drive commercial performance across major developments.\n\nRole Overview\n\nYou will be responsible for:\n\n * \n\n Taking full commercial ownership of multi-plot residential projects.\n\n * \n\n Preparing budgets, measurements and cost plans.\n\n * \n\n Subcontract procurement, negotiation and awarding of packages.\n\n * \n\n Managing valuations, variations, forecasts and monthly reporting.\n\n * \n\n Final accounts and contract compliance under house building frameworks.\n\n * \n\n Monitoring commercial risks, supply chain performance and build costs.\n\n * \n\n Supporting junior QS/Assistant QS development and training.\n\n * \n\n Liaising with site teams, consultants, partners and suppliers.\n\nAbout You\n\n * \n\n Strong experience as a QS or SQS with a house builder or residential contractor.\n\n * \n\n Confident in managing commercial delivery on multi-phase housing schemes.\n\n * \n\n Excellent procurement, negotiation, cost control and reporting skills.\n\n * \n\n Good understanding of subcontract markets and build processes.\n\n * \n\n Strong communication and stakeholder management ability.\n\n * \n\n Able to mentor junior commercial staff and support team development.\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence.\n\nCompany Profile\n\nYou’ll join a high-profile house builder known for quality, sustainability and community-driven development.
