This is an opportunity to serve as a Senior Technician at a well-funded, mission-first medical device company developing an AI-powered intravascular ultrasound platform to improve imaging for health conditions that affect 200 million people globally. We are looking for someone to join our San Jose based team to support developing a product that would directly impact the healthcare of millions.

Potential Responsibilities

Your responsibilities can range from:

  • Supporting our Engineering Teams on Product Development: Helping our Design, Process, and Manufacturing Engineers in various and vital stages of our product’s development. This can include everything from designing, developing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing devices.
    • From supporting R&D system development to low-volume manufacturing to preclinical testing to clinical evaluations to FDA approval to high-volume manufacturing, you will be an instrumental team member.
  • Prototype Building: Building and testing prototypes using equipment, tools, and draft process instructions.
  • Troubleshooting: Not only troubleshooting prototype builds, equipment, and processes to overcome limitations and increase throughput, but also having autonomy to recommend and initiative improvements.
  • Assembly and Build: Performing assembly and build activities, which may include tasks like bonding, lapping, wire-stripping, soldering, drilling, epoxy curing, and manipulation of small parts under a microscope.
  • Equipment Operation: Operating various types of equipment, including milling machines, dicing equipment, dimensional inspection tools, drill presses, ovens, calipers, drop gauges, parylene coating machines, plasma cleaners, electrical impedance analyzers, and electrical multi-meters.
  • Materials Expertise: Being a go-to resource on working with polymers and bonding with epoxies and acrylics.
  • Testing: Testing device subassemblies with protocol instructions and qualifying them before product assembly.
  • Driving Improvements: Evaluating subassembly/part failures and recommend and initiate changes to improve yields.
  • Fixture and Equipment Use: Utilizing custom fixtures and equipment for device assembly and test, and recommending and initiating improvements when necessary.
  • Procurement Assistance: Assisting with parts procurement from suppliers to ensure a smooth supply chain.
  • Lab Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining lab equipment such as vacuum pumps, compressors, and water and gas lines.
  • Documentation: Reviewing, editing, and writing manufacturing process instructions and test process instructions, maintaining accurate records of procedures and results.
  • Experimental Work: Initiating experiments and documenting results to support good design control and test practices.
  • Training: Training manufacturing assemblers, ensuring they are well-informed about the assembly and testing processes.
  • Review and Compliance: Reviewing drawings, including CAD drawings, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards for medical devices, including international standards such as ISO13485, ISO14971, 21 CFR 820, IEC60601, and GMP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or medical device environment
  • Detail-oriented with a knack for problem solving
  • Team-first player that can work in a cross-functional team environment with many different disciplines
  • Proactive about taking initiative, and showing perseverance
  • Keeping your ego at the door and staying open minded to new ideas
  • High integrity, tremendous work ethic, and a commitment to results
  • Computer literacy of office applications such as MS Office, Excel, Outlook.

Base Salary Range:

$100,000 - $115,000
