Position Overview

We are seeking a Civil/Utility Fiber Engineer with strong OSP fiber design experience to support telecom, fiber utility, and infrastructure projects. This is not an RF or field engineering role—we are looking for a true civil/utility engineer with hands-on fiber routing, conduit design, and site development experience. Structural engineering experience is acceptable if the candidate has 2+ years in civil/utility-focused work.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer tower and compound site layouts, including grading, stormwater management, and culvert design
• Design new conduit routes for fiber optic utility companies in public right-of-way and private property
• Develop construction plans for telecommunications equipment upgrades and modifications
• Prepare and review construction drawings for accuracy and completeness prior to final PE review
• Design relocations of existing fiber optic facilities within the public right-of-way (temporary & permanent)
• Perform structural and civil calculations in accordance with applicable building code requirements
• Conduct QA/QC reviews on drawings, reports, and construction documents
• Produce accurate engineering drawings promptly and efficiently
• Interact with multi-disciplinary internal teams to support project approvals and on-time delivery
• Review and approve structural analysis reports and construction contract documents
• Collaborate with managers and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements with efficient, innovative solutions

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Technology
• 4+ years engineering experience, specifically with OSP fiber design
• EIT required
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Experience with structural engineering software such as RISA 3D, Enercalc, tnxTower, Mathcad
• Strong understanding of civil, transportation, stormwater design, grading, and geotechnical concepts
• Ability to read and interpret complex civil, structural, tower, and construction drawings
• Experience designing stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and landscaping plans
• Telecom and/or utility experience, including structural analysis and site development
• Ability to analyze site documentation, perform research, and provide creative engineering solutions
• Experience reviewing project quality plans, contract documents, and specifications

Qualifications

• Civil 3D experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Knowledge of telecommunications industry trends and technologies
