Senior EIA Environmental Consultant

We’re looking for a Senior EIA Consultant to join our Environment & Sustainability business that has over 650 staff working across the UK. Ideally, you would be based in our York, Leeds, Newcastle or Manchester office, but there are opportunities in other offices across the UK. You’ll be managing and delivering environmental inputs to large-scale development projects that are transforming our infrastructure, such as: Power generation projects with carbon capture Power transmission projects Rail projects such as the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) and the Northumberland Line Portside developments Road projects You’ll be providing environmental inputs across all project lifecycles, from early strategy development, through feasibility, optioneering/ option selection, outline design, to detailed design, discharging of consents, construction and scheme operation/ maintenance. To apply for this will role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate experience in managing multidisciplinary environmental inputs to complex and large-scale projects. You’ll also have worked closely with design engineers to intercept and mitigate potential environmental effects, engaging and consulting across a wide range of audiences, as well as effectively managing resources and budgets. Your role will include: Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs across a range of projects, with a focus on the management of EIAs in support of gaining development consent Managing the preparation of EIA screening and scoping reports and Environmental Statements, including the technical review of specialist chapters Liaising with clients and internal supply teams Working collaboratively with design teams to ensure environmental considerations are appropriately taken into account Working in partnership with other members of the wider business Managing resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as applicable) Supporting business opportunities and associated fee and technical proposal development Promoting AECOM’s environmental services to both internal and external audiences. Minimum Requirements You’ll have: An excellent understanding of the EIA processes (including screening and scoping), environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation Confidence when engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups The ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, coordinating inputs from a specialist technical teams Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing Developing project management skills, including programming, staff resource management, and budget management Willingness to travel Preferred Qualifications A degree in a relevant environmental discipline and an appropriate professional membership The following would be a bonus: CEnv qualification (or progressing towards chartership) The value of diversity and inclusion is readily apparent in creating a collaborative, supportive working environment and in delivering innovative, contextually appropriate projects.
