Senior Contract Engineer
Join our dynamic team as a Senior Contract Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in managing contracts for one of the largest transnational infrastructure projects in East Africa. This full-time contract position based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the oil and gas industry while ensuring effective contract administration and management.
Role Overview
- Liaise with Contracts Lead to ensure the contract’s related procedures are implemented.
- Manage day-to-day contract administration, change management, and claims quantification/processing.
- Oversee contract schedule management and input into project changes impacting execution.
- Support the Contracts Lead in implementing day-to-day contracts management tools for reporting and tracking.
- Provide relevant inputs for weekly/monthly Contracts/Change Order reports.
- Contribute to preparation, analysis, update, and follow-up of the C&P planning activities.
- Manage awarded contracts contractually and commercially, liaising with technical specialists.
- Handle contractual and commercial changes according to Change Order Procedure.
- Participate in the development of Project Budget and subsequent revisions.
- Draft contractual narratives and investigate reports for claim management.
- Coordinate with construction teams for day-to-day administration of contracts.
- Prepare legal and contractual documents such as Letters, Change Orders, and Insurance Documents.
- Review and assist in resolving payment certificates, invoices, claims, and back charges.
- Report to the Contracts Lead on progress and areas of concern.
- Ensure confidentiality of all contractual and commercial documentation produced.
- Adopt exemplary behavior regarding H3SE rules implementation and project ethics.
Skills & Qualifications
- Contract Administration: Proficient in managing contracts and subcontracts effectively.
- Change Management: Skilled in processing change orders and managing claims.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to provide detailed analysis on contentious matters.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of contract and procurement processes.
- Multi-Cultural Adaptability: Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment.
Education & Experience
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Law, Commercial or Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience with at least 7 years in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Excellent post-contract administration experience with large-scale projects.
