Job Title: Purchasing Manager - Home Building
Position Overview:
As the Purchasing Manager, you will be a key player in our home building projects, responsible for procuring high-quality materials, products, and services. Your role involves close collaboration with project management and design teams to ensure all purchases meet our quality standards and adhere to budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire purchasing process, from vendor selection to goods delivery.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain positive relationships with reliable vendors.
- Develop, implement, and oversee purchasing strategies and policies.
- Coordinate with the finance team to ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast future needs.
- Stay updated on market trends and product innovations in the home building industry.
- Collaborate with design and project management teams for seamless integration of purchases into projects.
- Address any issues or discrepancies with orders promptly and professionally.
- Train and mentor purchasing staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the home building or construction industry.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Familiarity with sourcing and procurement tools and software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Adept at problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal building regulations and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with ERP systems or specialized purchasing software.
- Existing relationships with local and national suppliers in the home building industry.
- MUST have prior experience with Home Building Supplies/Suppliers.
