Research and Development Laboratory Technician – Lathom

Up to £32,000 DOE



DATS are recruiting for a Research and Development Laboratory Technician to join a cutting-edge Thin Film Technology team driving new coated products and processes. If you’re hands-on, curious and motivated by innovation, this Research and Development Laboratory Technician role offers the perfect blend of technical challenge and long-term career development.



As a Research and Development Laboratory Technician, you’ll support a mix of short, impactful projects and deeper research activity. Expect to operate specialist coating equipment, deposit thin films on glass, carry out durability testing, and measure key optical, electrical and physical properties. You’ll also play a key part in problem-solving across both lab and production environments.



We’re looking for someone with a real passion for engineering, science and technology. You’ll be confident handling chemicals, organised, and enjoy practical technical work. Strong GCSE/A Level science/maths is essential, with BTEC/HNC in a related subject highly advantageous. Experience with complex kit or high-vacuum systems is beneficial – but training is available for the right Research and Development Laboratory Technician.
