Job Description

The Company

A well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor, delivering packages across residential, commercial, and infrastructure schemes. They specialise in earthworks, foundations, drainage, S278 works, and reinforced concrete. With a strong pipeline of projects and long-term clients, they are now looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of groundworks packages, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual obligations. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects and to play a key role in the growth of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and managing bills of quantities, valuations, and cost estimates.

  • Procuring and managing subcontractors, suppliers, and labour resources.

  • Monitoring project costs against budgets and reporting on variances.

  • Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Managing variations, change orders, and compensation events.

  • Ensuring compliance with NEC/JCT/ICE contract frameworks.

  • Attending site progress meetings and liaising with site teams.

  • Supporting senior management with commercial strategy and cost planning.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks sector.

  • Strong knowledge of S278 works, drainage, foundations, and RC packages.

  • Familiarity with NEC and JCT contracts.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and reporting skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

  • Proficiency in relevant software (Excel, measurement packages, etc.).
