Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Fit-Out & Design & Build

Location: Farnborough, Berkshire (with site travel across London & the South East)

Salary: £70,000 per annum + expenses + benefits

Start Date: 5 January 2026

Reporting To: Managing Director

About Us

We are a Chartered Design & Build contractor specialising in commercial and industrial fit-out, refurbishment and design-led construction projects across London and the South East. Our projects typically range up to £4m in value, and we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, detail-focused work that supports our clients’ operational and design ambitions.

As our workload continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and commercially confident Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is a great opportunity to work closely with our senior leadership, influence key commercial decisions, and take ownership of your own projects from tender through to final account.

The Role

As our Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in driving the commercial success of our projects. You will be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initial tender to final account—ensuring financial accuracy, effective cost management and strong contractual control.

Pre-Contract Responsibilities

  • Reading, interpreting and pricing tender documentation to produce accurate, compliant tender submissions.
  • Preparing and issuing subcontract enquiries, assessing commercial and contractual returns, and making informed recommendations.
  • Leading tender analysis and building competitive proposals with the support of our established supply chain.
  • Attending tender site visits and working closely with client representatives to ensure clarity in scope and pricing.
  • Identifying potential value engineering opportunities that deliver meaningful benefits.

Post-Contract Responsibilities

  • Procuring subcontract and supplier packages on award, ensuring competitive pricing and robust terms.
  • Managing change control processes, including pricing, negotiating and agreeing variations.
  • Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts to clients.
  • Managing subcontractor payments, variations, and final account closure.
  • Monitoring and reporting on project financial performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with our clients, subcontractors and project teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
  • Strong understanding of Traditional, With Design, and Design & Build JCT contracts.
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, education or office fit-out is desirable but not essential.
  • A naturally organised individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A confident communicator and negotiator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.

What We Offer

  • A friendly, supportive and professional working environment
  • A competitive salary
  • Travel expenses
  • Ongoing training, CPD and development opportunities
  • Company pension
  • The chance to grow with a business that values your contribution
