Job Description
Launch your project management career in one of the UK’s most dynamic energy environments. This 12-month Project Planning Industrial Placement offers a rare opportunity to work at the frontline of energy delivery, gaining hands-on experience in outage planning and real-world infrastructure programmes.
Work side-by-side with experienced engineers and planners at a UK nuclear power station, contributing to Britain’s mission to reach net zero.
The Opportunity
This site-based role is located at a nuclear power station in Lancashire, where you’ll work within the Outage Planning team – a critical function responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant during planned maintenance and shutdown periods.
You’ll support:
- Project planning and scheduling for key engineering works
- Front-end engineering planning
- Commercial and performance reviews
- Risk assessments and stakeholder engagement
Previous students have worked on high-profile improvement programmes, contributing to progress tracking systems and data-informed decision-making that directly affects plant safety and performance.
Key Criteria / Must-Haves
To be eligible, you must:
- Be on track to achieve (or have already achieved) a 2:2 or higher in a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in one of the following:
- Project Management
- Engineering (any discipline)
- Have a genuine interest in energy, infrastructure or project delivery
- Demonstrate strong planning, coordination and communication skills
- Be confident working in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment
- Have the legal right to work in the UK by the placement start date
- (Priority may be given to those who already hold this right)
