Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support complex initiatives from inception to successful completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of project management expertise, financial acumen, and a keen understanding of supplier relationships and business system optimization. This role will be instrumental in driving process optimization, cost-effectiveness, and strategic agility across our projects as we grow.
Location: This position has a strong preference for candidates in the Virginia/MD area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution:
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and critical paths.
- Identify project risks and issues, proactively work with the Program Manager(s) in developing contingency plans or the correct contract actions to take.
- Facilitate and track effective communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Prepare and present regular project status in accordance with data reporting requirements (both internal and external).
- Supplier Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Oversee supplier performance, ensuring adherence to contractual agreements, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure supplier and subcontractor information in properly entered into our business systems while remaining current and accurate.
- Work with procurement to gather budgetary quotations, enter purchase requisitions, and ensure purchase orders represent correct flow downs and deliverables
- Project Analysis & Cost Control:
- Cost Tracking: Implement and maintain robust systems and processes for accurate tracking of project expenditures against approved budgets. Monitor weekly costs incurred (labor runs, consultant charges, travel expenses, supplier milestone billings, etc) for accuracy and appropriateness against project SOW.
- Spend Plans: Develop, manage, and track detailed project spend plans, forecasting future expenditures and identifying and analyzing variances.
- Develop Dashboards and standardized system reports to support thorough financial analysis of project costs, identifying areas for potential cost overruns, or necessary efficiency improvements on fixed price programs.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures and contractual clauses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Price Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive price analyses for goods and services, evaluating bids, proposals, and market trends to ensure best value for the organization in support of certified cost and pricing proposal submittals.
- Develop and utilize pricing models and tools to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with leadership, procurement, and finance teams to validate pricing strategies.
- Business System Agility & Optimization:
- Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and IT/system development teams to ensure business requirements are accurately translated into system solutions.
- Identify opportunities to leverage and optimize existing business systems to improve project efficiency, data visibility, and decision-making.
- Become advanced user of key business systems to support program team proficiency and learning curve.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies and agile methodologies where appropriate to enhance project delivery and business processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management methodologies and tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science degree.
- Certifications and training in Project management, Data analytics, or other relevant certifications highly .
- 3+ years of progressive experience in federal government/department of defense work, with a proven track record of successfully delivering assigned projects.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier management, including contract negotiation and performance oversight.
- Strong proficiency in cost tracking, financial analysis, and developing and managing spend plans and identifying errors in entries (actuals and forecasts).
- Proven ability to conduct detailed price analysis and derive actionable insights.
- Experience with business system agility and optimizing systems for improved project and business performance (e.g., ERP systems, project management software, financial tools).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project,etc), ERP systems (SAP, CostPoint, etc), and Microsoft Office (Sharepoint, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), workflow tools (Power automate, PowerBI, etc) and data visualization (Tableau, alteryx, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations, DFARs and highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Experience in transformation projects (onboarding new technologies)
