Summary/Objective
The Project Manager oversees the construction of asphalt and concrete parking lots at various locations throughout Illinois and surrounding states. He or she builds strong relationships with both new and existing customers and leads the project teams and sub-contractors to complete projects in partnership with the owner’s vision. This role will oversee the project in the field from inception to close which includes, but is not limited to, pre-construction meetings, project kick-off, daily management of subcontractors, management of resources and timelines, project closeout documentation, punch lists, and change order requests.
Responsibilities for Project Manager
- This position is responsible for the day-to-day project management of Industrial and commercial projects in Heavy Civil Construction from start to close out
- Verify cost estimates and work with Estimators to complete project handoff
- Reviewing bid documents, complete quantity take-offs and develop production rates with Management teams, and estimators
- Maintaining daily project quantity records and monitoring job costs
- Promote Safety and take active role in addressing concerns for Safety on projects
- Works closely with superintendents and supervisors to establish and monitor project schedules, identify, estimate, and track change order work, and help coordinate sub-contractors work completion
- Assist with estimating as needed utilizing HCSS (Bid/Job) and various take-off software
- Forecasts and evaluates self-perform labor, equipment and materials and adjusts plans as needed to maximize project profitability
- Perform post-build analysis of projects identifying key performance drivers and how they relate to the overall performance of the project

- This position will work most of the time in a project field environment but will also include regular visits to an office for meetings and/or project related function’s
- Coordinating with management teams, production crews and monitoring quality control processes to ensure we are providing our customers with the highest quality services daily
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems within the project including coordinating with city, county, state engineers, craft unions, news media and subcontractors
- Teach and ensure company procedures, policies, quality, and labor agreements as needed for projects
Qualifications for Project Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, business, or a related field
- 3-5 years of project management and related experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively
- Strong Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
- Ability to visualize the sequence of work and convert it to a measurable plan and schedule
- Willingness to travel 25% of the season
